OEG delivers enhanced offshore communications solution for RWE

OEG's offshore technology business, Fern Communications (FernCom), has been selected to design and deliver a consolidated communications system for a number of RWE’s operating offshore wind farms. The innovative solution will support more efficient communications for the RWE offshore wind team during maintenance campaigns across several of RWE’s European offshore wind project sites.

The robust communication solution will facilitate seamless voice communication between the REM Energy Service Operation Vessel (SOV), operated by RWE, and personnel onsite at five of RWE’s offshore wind project sites. The newly installed system will equip the team onboard the SOV with essential voice communications, connecting them to field technicians and onshore Marine Coordinators. The installed systems compatibility with the existing communications systems at RWE’s London Array, Greater Gabbard, Amrumbank, Kaskasi and Nordsee Ost wind farm sites will ensure uninterrupted operations during RWE’s scheduled maintenance campaigns throughout 2025.

FernCom has an established track record designing, installing and maintaining communications for UK offshore wind farm sites, starting with RWE’s Galloper offshore wind project in 2016.

Clive Cushion, Technical Director at FernCom, said:

This project underscores our commitment to delivering innovative, resilient communication solutions tailored to the unique challenges of offshore operations. Our expertise and longstanding relationships in the offshore wind sector position us as a trusted partner for RWE.
