Hughes Subsea, part of OEG Renewables’ subsea service line, supplied a dive support vessel, diving equipment spread and project management services to support subsea maintenance activities as part of the BW Catcher FPSO planned maintenance shut down. The Catcher area development is located approximately 170 km southeast of Aberdeen and produces oil and gas from 20 subsea wells that tie back to the Catcher FPSO.
The campaign commenced on 1st August 2024, with Hughes Subsea completing two main subsea activities; installation and removal of sea-tube blanking plates to allow shipside valve maintenance to be completed, and replacement of 10 ICCP reference anodes located along the hull of the FPSO.
The work scope was supported by the Ocean Skye, one of OEG Renewables’ dedicated air diving daughter craft, based onboard the chartered vessel JD C-Installer for the duration of the project.
Deva Selva, Commercial Manager (Catcher FPSO) at BW Offshore, commented:
“BW Offshore are extremely pleased with the successful completion of the recent Air Diving Campaign at BW Catcher FPSO. Hughes Subsea’s collaborative and pragmatic approach ensured all work scopes were completed within the required timescales and to a high standard. The planning and communication between the teams onshore, onboard the FPSO, mother vessel and daughter craft allowed for the smooth execution of the required scopes. Hughes Subsea also demonstrated flexibility during the works to ensure critical path operations remained on time and provided efficiencies to the operations.”
Mike Bailey, Managing Director at Hughes Subsea, added:
“Hughes Subsea and OEG Renewables were delighted to carry out this scope for our client. We are committed to delivering safe and efficient solutions to the energy sector, through both experienced personnel and reliable, well-maintained equipment.”
