OEG Renewables was awarded the contract for the East Anglia ONE windfarm offshore transmission system (OFTO), providing high voltage services from their topside service line.

Initially the scope was primarily focused on managing work on the asset and training and developing the team but, prompted by the value OEG Renewables added to the client’s operations, this soon expanded to include performing the balance of plant (BoP) electrical asset maintenance, implementing special projects, and managing & manning their control room.

Solution

OEG Renewables utilised the client’s high voltage safety rules (HVSR) by training and developing competencies, facilitating authorisation of personnel, and implementing the requirements to optimise workflow. This resulted in stronger depth of resources, which enhanced resilience, and reduced cost.

Power generation and transmission is a 24/7 business and as such OEG Renewables' high voltage team had to ensure competent personnel were available at any time day or night, with a short response to mobilise to site. The importance of this was further emphasised by strict contractual performance target.

Testimonial

We have worked closely with the OEG Renewables high voltage team over the past few years, and they have delivered, providing versatility and flexibility to the overall operation of our windfarm, whether that is in the innovative training approach or providing knowledge and expertise operationally, they have delivered on all counts. It’s a great example of how a relationship with a specialist provider can work, when we are all working towards the same goal.
